Anyone who knows something about CNC tools should know several types of tool handles and also have an understanding of basic tools. However, I believe that everyone may not have such a comprehensive understanding of the detailed classification of tool handles and the advantages and disadvantages of each major tool handle.
Anyone who knows something about CNC tools should know several types of tool handles and also have an understanding of basic tools. However, I believe that everyone may not have such a comprehensive understanding of the detailed classification of tool handles and the advantages and disadvantages of each major tool handle. Let me introduce it to you below. The first is a relatively old-fashioned tool handle, a side-fixed tool handle, which uses two screws to fix the tool, which is simple, fast and has strong clamping strength. But the versatility is not very good. Each type of tool holder can only be equipped with tools of the same type of shank.
Thermal expansion knife handle, as you can tell from the name, uses the method of thermal expansion and cold contraction to heat to a certain degree of heat, and the clamping part of the knife handle is slightly enlarged. Put the knife in it. After cooling the tool was fixed. Its advantage is high accuracy, generally within 2um. The clamping force is relatively large, the support is good, and the radial runout is 2um-5um. However, each tool holder can only be equipped with tools of one shank diameter. Moreover, heating is required every time the tool is changed, which will cause greater damage to the tool handle. If it is made in Japan, it can only be used about 200 times, and if it is made in Germany, it can generally only be used about 600 times.
There is also a hydraulic tool holder. I personally think the design principle of this tool holder is very interesting. Using a hydraulic fixed tool holder, the accuracy is very high and the surface runout is generally 2um. The clamping force is very strong, the rigidity is good, and it can transmit higher clamping torque. However, it has a very heartbreaking shortcoming, that is, it is too expensive. It can be said to be the most expensive knife handle.
There is also the cold-pressed/GP tool handle that is gradually becoming popular. The tool handle is installed by a machine. The machine pushes the tool upward with great force. Because its surface is coated, it has high durability. Generally it is more than 20,000 times. Its clamping force is also very large. The disassembly and assembly time is short, and the circumferential radial runout is 0.003mm.
