What is center
Machine tool center, machine tool parts in machining, there are two kinds of live center and dead center. The center can support parts with complex end faces and parts that do not allow central holes. The center mainly consists of a thimble, a clamping device, a housing, a fixing pin, a bearing and a mandrel.
Center applications
One end of the center hole or the inner hole of the pipe material can be topped, and the other end can be a spherical or conical part with the top surface, and the center is fixed by the clamping device. When the part does not allow or cannot punch the center hole, the clamping device can be used to clamp the turning directly. The shell and the mandrel are drilled with a pin hole, and the pin is inserted or removed by a fixed pin to achieve the dual use of the top dead or alive.

The center of the lathe has two kinds of front center and back center, and the lathe is used to center and withstand the gravity and cutting force of the workpiece.
1) The front center of the lathe can be directly installed in the cone hole of the spindle of the lathe, and the front center and the workpiece rotate together without relative movement, so there is no need to quench.
A self-centering chuck with three claws is sometimes used to hold a homemade steel front center with a 60° cone Angle. In order to prevent the center from displacing due to the action of axial force in turning, the clamping part of the self-made center upper chuck should be made into a platform type. When the center of the lathe is removed from the chuck, if it is used again, the 60° cone must be turned again.
2), after the center there are two kinds of dead center and live center. When in use, the back center can be inserted into the taper hole of the tail seat sleeve of the lathe. The dead center has good cutting and accurate centering, but there is sliding friction between the center hole and the hard tip, which is easy to wear and burn the center. The lathe is therefore only suitable for low-speed machining of high-precision workpieces. The lathe can be used to support small workpieces with reverse center, when the workpiece end is made into a center type. The movable center is equipped with rolling bearings inside, and the center rotates with the workpiece, which can work normally at high speed. However, the rigidity of the live center is poor, and sometimes it will produce beat and reduce the processing accuracy. Therefore, the live center is only suitable for parts with low precision requirements.
Center use
The center can also be used for drilling, reaming and reaming of workpieces.
